This was a topic that came up at the Alan Aragon UK Conference.
There seems to be a fallacy that goes something like this… Person A- “I get quite a lot of my daily protein requirements from whey protein” Person B- “Bro, you need to get all of your protein from whole food sources” The facts: Whey protein consists of all the essential amino acids, just like chicken, just like turkey, egg etc. Whey protein also has a very high micro nutrient profile, as well as having a very high biological value. So, to make the straw man argument that you must consume all of your protein requirements from who food sources to make optimal gains, is a fallacy. While, I would suggest an array of protein sources. Treat whey protein as Alan Aragon says,“ a convenient protein source”. Don’t feel guilty or let others make you feel bad for having more than one whey protein shake a day, to meet your daily protein requirements. Whey protein is much cheaper than a lot of wholefood sources, and it should be used as a very useful tool. This should save you some money and time too, especially if you have a busy schedule and high protein daily requirements.
